Books: War and Peace, the new translation

Following up on my earlier post, (see the books category), I just saw that the recent War and Peace translation (Richard Pevear, Larissa Volokhonsky, 2007), was listed as one of 50 great translations.

Now, I really have to read it – and it looks like you should choose this translation.

I was sort of surprised that the recent Proust translations didn’t make it, but there is a lot of love for the Montcrieff translation, so… not that surprising. I’ve commented in the previous post about my affection for the new translations.
